Barbiturates

Barbiturates are a class of drugs that act as central nervous system depressants. They produce effects ranging from mild sedation to general anesthesia. Shorting acting barbiturates have half-lives of 4 to 38 hours, some longer-acting barbiturates are over 90 hours. Some examples of barbiturates are below. It is worth noting that the drug primidone, is metabolized to phenobarbital.
