Hydromorphone has a half-life of three to nine hours and can be detected in the urine for two to four days after ingestion.
For patients prescribed hydromorphone, only hydromorphone should be detected in the urine sample. If hydrocodone is prescribed then hydromorphone (its metabolite) will usually also be present, in addition to the hydrocodone.
