16. Had sexual contact with anyone who has, in the past 3 months, received money, drugs, or other payment for sex?
17. Used needles to inject drugs, steroids, or anything not prescribed by your doctor?
18. Had sexual contact with anyone who has used needles in the past 3 months to inject drugs, steroids, or anything not prescribed by their doctor?
Donors who have received money, drugs, or other payment for sex may be at an increased risk for HIV or other infections and are deferred for 3 months from the last date that they received money, drugs, or other payment for sex.
Donors who have had sexual contact with anyone who has, or may have, in the past 3 months, received money, drugs, or other payment for sex are deferred for 3 months from the last date of sexual contact. Donors who are uncertain if their partner qualifies are deferred for 3 months from the last date of sexual contact.
Potential donors should have their arms checked for any indication of needle punctures or scars which could be caused by nonprescription, injectable drugs. This includes the presence of any skin lesions in the antecubital area of the arm. Donors who have used needles to inject drugs, steroids, or anything not prescribed by their doctor are deferred for 3 months from their last date of use.
Donors who have had sexual contact with someone who has, or may have, in the past 3 months, used needles to inject drugs, steroids, or anything not prescribed by their doctor are deferred for 3 months from their last date of sexual contact. If the donor or their sexual contact has used needles for injection more than 3 months ago, it is not cause for deferral.
