Plasma Transfusion Risks

FFP is associated with many of the risks associated with blood-component transfusion, such as infectious disease transmission. In addition to these, some adverse reactions are more commonly associated with components that contain large volumes of plasma. Significant risks commonly associated with plasma transfusion include transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI), transfusion-associated circulatory overload (TACO), and allergic/anaphylactic transfusion reactions (ATRs).
