Differential Diagnosis

CML-Chronic phase has to be distinguished from the following:
1. Leukemoid reactions due to infection. In leukemoid reactions, the blood smears show toxic changes (toxic granulation & Dohle bodies). The LAP also helps with this.
2. Other myeloproliferative neoplasms. Example: chronic neutrophilic leukemia
CML-Blastic phase has to be distinguished from:
1. Other cases of acute myeloid leukemia
2. Cases of acute lymphoid leukemia
3. Cases of mixed phenotype leukemia
