Interference in LA Testing

It is important to understand the impact of oral direct thrombin and Xa inhibitors on lupus anticoagulant testing. Dabigatran, rivaroxaban, and enoxaparin have been shown to affect LA testing in both screening, mixing, and confirmatory testing. LA testing should NOT be performed on patients using these drugs. This will result in false positive LA testing.
