The Biological Stain Commission (BSC)

The Biological Stain Commission (BSC) is the agency primarily responsible for ensuring the quality of biological stains through independent analysis of dyes submitted by vendors and/or manufacturers to determine content and composition. In addition, they also:

  • Promote cooperation and dialogue among manufacturers, vendors, and users of dyes for histochemical applications.
  • Educate users of biological stains about sources of reliable dyes and how they might best be used.
  • Publish information concerning new or improved uses for biological staining with dyes and related histochemical techniques.
