  • Upper tract infection can result in pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
  • Infection and inflammation of the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, or adjacent peritoneum
  • PID whether symptomatic or subclinical can result in:
    • Fibrosis
    • Scarring
    • Loss of tubal function
  • Leads to serious long-term reproductive consequences
