Blood Bank Workup

Based on the previous panel, the blood bank did further workup which revealed a warm autoantibody. Warm autoantibodies (WAA) are an immune reaction where red blood cells are damaged at body temperature or above. The distinguishing features of a WAA are panagglutination (an antibody reacting with all reagent cells of a panel, rather than specific cells) on a panel at AHG, positive autocontrol, positive DAT, and a panagglutinin on an elution.
