Notice that the only abnormal results are the following:
- Below range WBC count
- Below range percentage neutrophils
- Below range absolute neutrophils
- Above range percentage lymphocytes
However, the above range percentage of lymphocytes can be ignored since the absolute number is within range. The low WBC is due to the low neutrophil count. The morphology of the neutrophils is normal (The image to the right shows normal neutrophils). Other patient background information includes no history of frequent infections; the patient just had the typical colds and occasional flu as a child. Also, he had all of his required childhood immunizations. He was within the normal height and weight for his age and gender.
Family background included no known blood or immunological diseases or disorders. The parents were immigrants from Ethiopia.
