During the investigation process the event should be classified. The classification will determine additional actions that may need to be taken and required notifications. Examples of classifications include:
- Complaint (internal, external)
- Pre-analytical event
- Analytical event
- Post-analytical event
- Non-conforming service or product
- Post-transfusion reaction or disease
- Sentinel Event
- Blood or tissue donor reaction
- Post Donation Information
- Recall of products from supplier
