Maturing into Segmented Neutrophil

As time progresses, the band matures and the nucleus develops constrictions, resulting in the formation of nuclear lobes. When nuclear lobes can be distinguished, the neutrophil is referred to as a segmented neutrophil.
Notice, in the image to the right, that the WBC in the upper right-hand corner has a segmented nucleus and is therefore considered a segmented neutrophil. The WBC in the center of the image is a band neutrophil.
