Three Countries as Examples of TB Resistance and Challenges

In this section, a global view of TB resistance and challenges with respect to three different regions (India, Italy, and the US- Mexico border) is presented. The entire world has experienced the ongoing challenge of TB prevention and control. The following pages convey examples of how resistance to the TB bacteria may have occurred and lessons learned from research published in the recent past. These examples are presented in an effort to learn from past policy mistakes, and to move forward to address the ongoing challenge of TB drug resistance.
