The current cardiac biomarkers that will be discussed are listed below. Some of these markers, specifically CK-MB, have become somewhat obsolete while others, such as hs-troponin, are slowly becoming widespread in their use.
- Troponin I (cTnI)
- Troponin T (cTnT)
- CK-MB
- Myoglobin (rarely used)
- CK Isoforms (never used for routine work-ups, mainly of academic interest)
- BNP and NT-proBNP
- High-sensitivity troponin (hs-TnI or hs-TnT)
