Labeling and Color-Coding Specimen Containers for Storage and Transport

If the outside of a sealed specimen container is contaminated, the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard requires that the specimen be placed in a secondary red/orange or biohazard-labeled container.
All biohazardous materials that are transported outside the facility must be identified with the international biohazard sign, as shown on the right.
