Cellular Casts

Cellular casts consists of a Tamm-Horsfall mucoprotein matrix containing RBCs or WBCs, renal tubular epithelial cells, or a mixture of these cell types.

All cellular casts originate from the distal tubules. The presence of cellular casts is always abnormal.
