A company’s responsibility to prevent harassment and discrimination does not start when someone complains. Supervisors must actively monitor their employees and themselves for inappropriate behavior, especially subtle behavior. Correcting inappropriate behavior lets your employees know that you take matters of discrimination and harassment seriously, and they will know that future behavior will also be treated seriously.
