Healthcare Worker Tuberculosis Screening

All healthcare workers receive baseline TB screening upon hire, using either the two-step skin test or blood test.
Annual screening varies depending on setting risk.
  • In low-risk settings, screening is not necessary unless an exposure occurs.
  • In medium-risk settings, all healthcare workers are screened for symptoms and healthcare workers with negative baseline results are tested.
  • In potential ongoing transmission settings, healthcare workers receive testing every 8-10 weeks until lapses are corrected.
