Colorado Tick Fever: Laboratory Diagnosis

Diagnosis can be made through a viral culture of blood. Serology by IgM IFA for neutralizing antibodies can be useful but may not be positive until 14-21 days after symptoms begin. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is the most sensitive test early in the disease. These tests are performed in State Health Departments.
