Subgroups of B

Subgroups of B are similar to subgroups of A; however, they are rarely encountered in the blood bank. Resolution of these discrepancies may include the following:
  • A thorough review of patient clinical and transfusion history
  • Assessment of the strength of reactivity in the forward and reverse typing
  • Adsorption-elution studies with anti-B
  • Assessment of B substance in salivia
  • Advanced molecular testing
