Subgroups of B are similar to subgroups of A; however, they are rarely encountered in the blood bank. Resolution of these discrepancies may include the following:
- A thorough review of patient clinical and transfusion history
- Assessment of the strength of reactivity in the forward and reverse typing
- Adsorption-elution studies with anti-B
- Assessment of B substance in salivia
- Advanced molecular testing
