Group II: Cellular-Mediated ABO Discrepancies

Group II ABO typing discrepancies are characterized by unexpected reactions in the forward typing. These are typically the result of weakly reacting antigens, missing antigens, or antigens of an ABO subgroup.
Unexpected reactions in the forward typing are not encountered as frequently in the clinical laboratory as unexpected reactions in the reverse typing.
