Quality processes in the preparation of blood and blood components are important to patient safety. Transfusion services must establish and maintain quality systems based on current good manufacturing practices (cGMP). Following the regulations for cGMP that are part of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 21 will ensure safety and quality in the entire process.
