Functions of Nervous Tissue

The nervous system is primarily composed of nervous tissue. Nervous tissue is made up of nerve cells that come in different forms and serve a variety of functions. Functions of the nervous system include the following:

  • Sensory input
  • Integration
  • Control of muscles and glands
  • Homeostasis
  • Mental activity
