- Prevalence overall is 6.8%
- 4.4% among non-Hispanic whites
- 16.2% among non-Hispanic blacks
- Up to one third are also infected with gonorrhea
- 5 times more common in women than men
- Young people 14-25 years of age are 3 times more likely to be infected than those over 25 years of age
