Differentiate Personnel Required for Moderate and High Complexity Laboratories

Required personnel for each of the non-waived complexity levels is defined and monitored by CLIA, accreditation agencies, and state and local authorities. Moderate complexity laboratories have requirements for laboratory director, clinical consultant, technical consultant, and testing personnel. High complexity laboratories are required to provide a qualified laboratory director, clinical consultant, technical supervisor, general supervisor, and testing personnel. As outlined in the following pages for specific positions and in the summary chart, specific positions that are required for both moderate and high complexity testing will have different minimum qualifications.
