Rh Case Study

The following are results of Type and Screen testing performed on a recipient's sample submitted to the transfusion service with orders to transfuse 2 units of packed red blood cells. The patient has end-stage renal disease and receives dialysis treatments 3 days per week. She has received an average of 3-4 units of packed red cells per month for the past year. A review of her records with the transfusion service indicate that she is A Positive with negative antibody screens throughout her transfusion history. She is 65 years old and has 2 grown children. She had 2 miscarriages during her child-bearing years. (para 2, gravida 4).
