The Systematic Classification of Fungi

The systematic classification of the fungi is anything but settled and to this day remains in a flux. The accompanying flow chart exemplifies what most, but far from all, mycologists accept. There are more than two phyla in the fungi kingdom but only the Basidiomycota and the Ascomycota are included in the chart since these are the only two phyla which are relevant to this discussion.
