Announced Tests or Unannounced Tests

Both announced and unannounced tests have value. As the scope of the test increases, the more resources are needed for the test to be effective. In addition, patient care should not be negatively impacted by the test, but should be coordinated with the test that will occur.
Tabletop exercises, comprehensive, and modular tests are usually scheduled to ensure all participants are available. Simulations and mock events limited to the laboratory or a laboratory section, should be performed on all shifts.
