Face and Eye Protection

The following protect your eyes and the mucous membranes of your nose and mouth:
  • Face shield
  • Mask worn with safety glasses
Employees who wear prescription eyewear may be protected with a face shield, goggles, or with side shields attached to their glasses (a mask must also be worn to protect the nose and mouth).
Face and eye protection must be worn whenever it is reasonably anticipated that splashing or spraying of blood or other contaminated materials may occur. A splash guard (as shown to the right) is an engineering control that can be used for facial protection.
