Commercially-Available Tests: The C. DIFF QUIK CHEK COMPLETE®

The C Diff Quik Chek Complete® is a test kit system available from Alere Inc (now part of Abbott Diagnostics), which is located in Waltham, Mass. The company was recently acquired by Abbott Laboratories in early 2017.
The test was developed and manufactured by TechLab® of Radford, VA.
The test uses a cassette device that rapidly and simultaneously identifies stool samples for the C diff GDH antigen and toxins A & B. The rapid test uses antibodies specific for the GDH antigen and the toxins A & B of the C diff bacterium. The device contains a “reaction window” that has two vertical lines of immobilized antibodies and center dots of immobilized antibodies. The one line (Ag line) has antibodies against the GDH antigen, and the second line (Tox line) has antibodies against toxins A and B. The device also has a “control line” that contains anti-horseradish peroxidase (HRP).
The test can be rapidly performed with an estimated total assay time of 30 minutes or less.
