Mobility or Rate of Migration

The mobility or rate of migration of ions in electrophoresis is dependent upon the following factors:
  • Net charge of the molecules
  • Size and shape of the molecules
  • Support medium properties
  • Strength of the electrical field
  • Ionic strength of the buffer
  • Temperature
