Parenchyma: Sinusoids

The sinusoids of the liver are unique vascular structures. These blood vessels serve as area for mixing the oxygen-rich blood from the hepatic artery with the nutrient-rich blood from the portal vein. Liver sinusoids are lined with a combination of endothelial cells (cells that line blood vessels), Kupffer cells, and stellate cells, as previously discussed.
