Category B: UN Identification Numbers and Proper Shipping Names

The UN identification number and the proper shipping name for category B biological substances is:
  • UN3373 Biological substance, Category B
UN3373 is used if the substance qualifies as a category B biological substance and the human or animal materials are being transported only for the purpose of diagnosis or investigation. Diagnostic specimens do not include live infected animals.1
The proper shipping name must be written exactly as shown; abbreviations are not acceptable.
