Introduction to Primary Hemostasis

Primary hemostasis is considered the starting point for the hemostatic response. This process is initiated by the body, subsequent to vascular damage. Its activation serves as a trigger for ensuing hemostatic processes, as the mechanisms are all interrelated. Primary hemostasis consists of two key parts:

  • The vascular system
  • Platelets (thrombocytes)
