In the Present

Chemical manufacturers have to determine the physical and health hazards of each product they make.

They also have to let users know about those hazards through the use of:

  • GHS-compliant container labels that include a harmonized signal word, pictogram, and hazard statement for each hazard class and category. Precautionary statements must also be provided.
  • Safety data sheets with a standardized 16-section format
These will be discussed in more detail later in the course.
