Progenitor Cells

When stem cells are stimulated by a cytokine or growth factor they can begin differentiation into progenitor cells. Progenitor cells have limited capacity for self-renewal. These cells undergo development into multipotential cells that eventually produce committed progenitor cells. The sequence of cell development is shown in the graphic below.
